And just like that...I'm back in it!

Greetings! It is great to be back here...a-ranting and a-raving like the good old days. Ah the good old days...when we could walk the streets without facial coverings, interact with friends and family with a hug and/or a kiss, and enjoy some "adult time" with a close friend...new or old.  But  those days seem to be far back in our rear view mirror.  Please, if you haven't done so already, GET VACCINATED ! It doesn't only protect you from the COVID-19 virus, it helps you to protect others as well. Be the example to those you care about who are apprehensive. I can tell you, the virus is a much better alternative to what this virus can do to you.  And as always, my sincerest thanks for checking back in with us. You can look forward to more consistent postings, and some other options to get the word from me as I continue my journey being Fabat50 and beyond.  So let us begin... First, a thank you. Over the last year, life has changed for many of us. No matter ...

Ah 50...has it really been that fabulous?

The face of almost 51! So the big “5-1” is cresting the horizon about now. It gives me cause to look back and reflect and determine if being 50 has been as “fab” as the moniker of this blog would have one believe. It is a very often asked question…kind of. More on that later…but the big question is this; is being 50 really all that fab? Well, I have an answer for you darlings… You bet your sweet ass it is! As many who know me are aware, aging hasn’t ever really been that big a deal for me. “Age is just a number.” “With age comes wisdom.” “Aging ain’t no big thing!” I’ve heard them all…believe me. And platitudes aside, I am reminded every day that I am blessed for the genetics I was gifted at birth. Aside from the few creaks from my joints that greet me occasionally in the morning, I have been very, very fortunate. Aging has truly been a gift…and not just from the physical perspective. Being 50 has been like gaining admission to a very exclusive club, ...

Hello, yeah it's been a while. Oh not much, how about you?

Greetings all! If you recognize the song the title of this blog is from, drop me a private note, and I will send you something fun in a reply. Now...read on! Well, after another long hiatus, I am back in the blogosphere. I first want to say thank you to all of you who have been inquiring when this day would happen; it is appreciated. It has been a challenge getting back to this point, and the expression of concern and support has not only been overwhelming, but incredibly helpful as well. If you chose to read on, it will become a bit clearer why… When I started this blog back in November, I did so with the highest expectations…in myself. I have always tried to be “that guy;” the one you can rely on above all others. But over the last few months, “that guy” has been replace with “this guy;” unsure, unsteady, and not at all on his game. I have had brief periods like this in my life before, but not one that has lasted as long as this. It all seemed to have started just after th...

Get some when you want some...get some?

Hello all! Well, it is day four if this new lifestyle shift, and I have to say I am LOVING it! I feel great, the eating part is not nearly as tough as I had anticipated, and in short it has been great! Now granted, I realize it’s been only four days, and the next 10 will be the true test. I’ve been told if I can get to the halfway mark without losing my mind, I am home free… Some of the best times of my life I owe to the people in this pic... I even passed one of those big hurdle test; dining out with friends. Last night, I met some of my besties at a nearby place known for the quality of their pizza pie, Wyman’s. The smell when you enter the place is an assault to begin with, and when you start to see the food being delivered to the other patrons, it’s enough to make you crazy! But I held fast. Even when my buddy Shane ordered “cheesy bacon tater tots” my resolve didn’t crumble. I ate my chicken breast and green salad happily, and didn’t even let the thought of those del...
